Best
things all year: 2005 overview

Best things I've seen all year (and some
of the worst too).

Best movie: The Descent
The most intense cave-shocker ever made, one that can
scare the crap out of a rock.
Best zombie movie: Land of the Dead
No matter what, George Romero returned to fine form with
thebest zombie movie in many years (or at least since the
Dawn of the Dead remake).
Best Kate Hudson horror movie: Skeleton
Key
Scattered hoodoo chiller but with good performances
and a great last reel.
Best cult movie re-release: The
Killer Must Kill Again
Just when we've grown tired of laughing at Luigi Cozzi we
had this marvelous 1975 curve ball thrown in our faces.
Best performance:
Jennifer Connelly in Dark Water.
Best fight sequence:
Natalie Mendoza vs crawlers in The Descent. Blood and
guts everywhere. Not a dry eye in sight.
Best psycho meltdown:
Sean Penn in The Assassination of Richard Nixon.
A shocking story about how easy it is to go mad and an
incredible performance.
Most wasted actress:
Naomi Watts in Ring Two, the year's most boring sequel.
Thank God for the ape-movie then.
Most wasted
superhero: Elektra
They had a perfect Jennifer Garner and there was
material for a good movie, yet they still blew it.
Most misplaced actress:
Parker Posey in Blade: Trinity. But seriously, who came
up with that?
