The Unseen
USA 1981. Director: Peter Foleg
Cast: Sydney Lassick, Barbara Bach, Karen Lamm, Lelia Goldoni

TV-reporter Barbara Bach and her two assistants are out on a job but can't find a motel room for the night. Instead they end up at the residence of freaky Ernest and his wife Virginia who are willing to let them stay in their villa. Only Ernest is mad as a hatter and Virginia is actually his sister with whom he has an incestuous relationship and their mongoloid offspring Junior is now hiding in the dark of the basement. After her two friends have mysteriously disappeared, snatched by Junior, Barbara begins to suspect that there's something funny going on in the house. Ernest must lurk her down into the basement for Junior, who presumably was never allowed to see The Spy Who Loved Me as a child, to have som fun and some killing. The final confrontation between Barbara and Junior goes on for the last half hour, which is a bit of a drag, but The Unseen is nontheless a dark, dirty and perverse little old-time shocker with a weird offbeat atmosphere. And Sydney Lassick (Alligator) is wonderful as the gigglling lunatic Ernest. Worth checking in.
