Sniper 2
USA 2002. Director: Craig R. Baxley
Cast: Tom Berenger, Bokeem Woodbine, Erika Marozsan

Tom Berenger have done too many roles in recent years that just doesn't suit him. Fortunately the role of grumpy sniper Thomas Becket suits him just perfectly. In this sequel to Luis Llosas surprise hit from 1993 a retired Becket is sent down to Balkan to wipe out some Serbian mafioso. What follows is the usual, car explosions, shoot-outs and booby-traps, blood, gore, violence, only someone forgot to write a script. The script is shit. It's sloppy and confusing. And the gritty Balkan urban setting is a bit disappointing, to say the least, compared to the Panama jungle setting of the original film. This film has little of that. Take Becket out of the jungle and he's just an ordinary marine soldier. It's a fair action thriller nontheless, with solid acting from the leads, but if this is going to turn into a series, this second part won't be considered one of the more interesting entries. I hope.
