The Hitcher II - I've
Been Waiting
USA
2003. Director: Louis Morneau
Cast: Kari Wuhrer, C. Thomas Howell, Jake Busey, Shaun Johnston

Jim, the guy from the first Hitcher
movie (Howell), must return to Texas to face his demons. Or so his girlfriend
Kari Wuhrer say and if you have Kari Wuhrer as your girlfriend you'll
follow her anywhere. The only problem is that the psycho who tortured
Jim 15 years ago, or his son or something like that, is still around.
And by now Jim is so paranoid he sees Rutger Hauer everywhere but instead
he get Jake Busey and his shining teeth. Busey may be no Rutger Hauer
but he has fun with the character (daddy must be proud), though he isn't
particularly scary for real. On the acting front I have always thought
of Kari Wuhrer as an Ashley Judd rip-off, but I may have to reconsider
that. She does some fair fighting and beating here, blowing up everything
that moves. Though apart from the action and a shrewd opening, Hitcher
2 is pretty pointless nevertheless, with a stupid plot annoyingly
full of holes. There are, however, enough of wide open spaces, burning
trucks, wrecked trailers and hacked-off body parts to keep your attention
for 90 minutes. And a scalped trucker.
