Hangman
USA 2001. Director: Ken Girotti
Cast: Lou Diamond Philips, Mädchen Amick, Vincent Corazza

The Mädchen Amick video flick of the month has the former star of Twin Peaks awakening one morning to find a dead guy hanging in her living room. Detective Roos (Diamond Philips) smells homicide and starts investigating what turns out to be a series of murders where the clues to the next victim lie in the cruel guessing game "Hangman". If the cops can't solve the game they can expect a dead body around the next corner.

Hangman is a nice little B-movie chiller. Mädchen Amick, as the lovesick shrink with a mysterious past, really ham things up in a few scenes, especially in the second half, so much that you almost forget about a miscast Lou Diamond Philips (good but tame) in the lead. The story is standard cat & mouse serial killer flick, but it moves along nicely and it's not too predictable with a few surprises in waiting for the patient. Not the most logical or credible plot you'll see, but more enjoyable than expected.
