The Blue-Eyed Bandit
Italy 1980. Director: Alfredo Giannetti
Cast: Franco Nero, Dalila Di Lazzaro, Carlos de Carvalho
Aka: Il Bandito Dagli Occhi Azzurri

Renzo Dominici is a harmless and crippled accountant at a huge bank, always the last to leave office, always bullied by the guards. Of course Dominici is not who he intend to be. He is just planning the perfect crime, robbing his employer blind at payday. The robbery goes smoothly as planned, Dominici manage to confuse all witnesses by wearing bright blue contact-lenses, but unfortunately hot cafeteria waitress Stella (everybody's crazy about her strawberry cake) and various other creepy characters are on to him.

Not much style to this little crime thriller, but the story flows in an exciting and entertaining manner and there's also a comfortable score by Ennio Morricone to helps things along. The performances do not disappoint either. Franco Nero is in great shape as the con man and Dalila Di Lazzaro is in even greater. The Blue-Eyed Bandit may not be up to par with the more known Franco Nero crime movies of the '70s (like High Crime or
Street Law) but it's above average for the genre and that's enough to cause a recommendation.
