Alligator
USA 1980. Director: Lewis Teague
Cast: Robert Forster, Robin Riker, Henry Silva, Perry Lang

A little girl has her little alligator baby flushed down the toilet. 12 years later chopped off arms and legs are turning up in the New York sewers. Supposedly lost dogs are turning up dead and twice their size. Detective Madison (Forster) is set to investigate.

Endlessy entertaining gator classic with a very funny script by John Sayles (also writer of Piranha and The Howling). It is essentially a horror comedy spoof, but director Lewis Teague (Jewel of the Nile) and writer Sayles let their cast play it straight. Robert Forster is very good as the main man but in the acting department it is Henry Silva who steals the show as Brocka the odd gator hunter who is eventually eaten alive ("If I couldn't get myself killed while chasing it, what fun would it be?"). Highly recommended.
