Chameleon
Australia 1998. Director: Stuart Cooper
Cast: Bobbie Philips, Eric Lloyd, Philip Casnoff, Jerome Ehlers

The first film in a series of cable-cheapos about the genetically improved battlegirl Kam (Bobbie Philips). Kam is named so because she can shift color in order to adjust to the environment, like a chameleon, and she is created by a guy named Cortez (Casnoff) who wants to rule the world. Yes, the old world as we knew it has been nuked once again and the crooks have taken over. Now Kam is sent out to delete an extremist group living in the woods and who have developed a new microchip which can destroy the economy. But instead Kam, who is almost human, befriends these nice long-haired mountain people and decides to turn against her creator Cortez. He in turn hires a new set of killers who are sent out to wipe out Kam.

Okey, Bobbie Philips look somewhat lost in that green leather outfit but, you know, she's a mutant, it doesn't matter. She can ride a motorcycle pretty good, shoot bad guys in the groin and turn invisible. If that isn't enough there's also a fair amount of cheap comic-style action in the style of TV's Dark Angel with some tasteful and discreet nudity to pad things out. Further installaments in the series are a bit more expensive, with more muscles and less character, and are quite awful. This one's quite hard to resist and worth a look.
