7 Hours of Violence
Italy 1973. Director: M. M. Tarantini
Cast: George Hilton, Rosemarie Dexter, Ernesto Colli
Aka: 7 Ore di Violenza una Soluzione Imprevista

Hadn't much hope for this one, admittedly. But once I started watching, the fun never stopped. George Hilton is a professional killer who is blackmailed into one last job in Greece. Once he is in the country he has 7 hours on him (why I didn't get, or I may have forgot). He fails, and instead decides to go after the blackmailers one by one, while at the same time trying to get out of the country. Which is not that easy since his fake passport has been stolen by a couple of Chinese bullies (one with beard) and the cops are on his trail.

Tarantini is better known as director of sexy comedies with Edwige Fenech, but it don't quite show here. Except when someone is killed in slo-mo perhaps, the most hilarious Peckinpah-imitations I've seen ever. Otherwise this is a rather dark and atmospheric story, set in a murky Athens, Greece. George Hilton makes a decent hero. He isn't particularly funny, but he's not supposed to be. The other actors around him are mostly bad or worse, and the dubbing isn't the best I've seen either. But all in all, there's enough exciting fist-fights, shoot-outs and kung-fu to satisfy everyone and some others too.
