Risking
Italy/Germany 1976. Director: Franco Prosperi
Cast: Ray Lovelock, Elke Sommer, Martin Balsam, Ettore Manni
Aka: Pronto ad Uccidere

Massimo (Lovelock) is an undercover cop who arranges so he's thrown into jail (while his mother is home waiting in the kitchen for him) to infiltrate a group of criminals led by mastermind Giovanelli (Balsam) who operates from the inside. They arrange an escape and Massimo becomes a member of the group also on the outside. It now becomes evident that the real motive for Massimo is finding the two guys who crippled his mother some years ago. Then enters sexy Elke Sommer, the young wife of Giovanelli and then there's some smuggling of drugs in eggs and then it suddenly ends so abruptly you'll almost feel you've missed something but haven't.

Star Lovelock sings a lovely song over the opening credits (as he usually did in the films he made during this period), containing ultra-cool stills from the movie. Other than that Risking is an average film, containing the usual macho shoot-outs and guys in moustaches chasing and beating each other up. On the plus-side the film looks really good, there's a better-than-average car-chase in the middle and Lovelock is awesome in the lead, looking very much like a young Robert Redford. Almost worth a look for that alone.
