Porno Holocaust
Italy 1979. Director: Joe D'Amato
Cast: George Eastman, Annj Goren, Mark Shanon, Dirce Funari

Oh my. This rarely seen piece of celluloid is, to make things simple, horrifying in every aspect of the word. Only Joe D'Amato can do such a film without making a fool out of himself. A cross between hardcore porno and splattery horror film, apparently shot back to back with Erotic Nights of the Living Dead.

The action takes on the usual remote Caribbean island to which the cast arrives. On the island a zombie lives (at least I think it was a zombie, it's hard to tell since I saw this one with Italian dialogue and no subtitles and the make-up effects are very sparse) who could be related to the anthropophagus beast in the film with the same name (they both live in a cave decorated with bones and skulls). But this zombie (or monster or whatever) is no ordinary dude and George Eastman and friends suspect nothing until their heads are smashed into tomato juice. Eastman mumbles around the whole film and is actually doing nothing before he is strangled by the zombie (or monster or whatever). It later shows that the zombie (or monster or whatever) has fallen in love with the character played by Annj Goren and he also kidnaps her. When she is resqued by the guy in moustache the zombie (or monster or whatever) dies of a broken heart. Or something like that. The end. Remarkable. Really fantastic. Awful soundtrack by Nico Fidenco.
