Play Motel
Italy 1979. Director: Roy Garrett (Mario Gariazzo)
Cast: Anna Maria Rizzoli, Ray Lovelock, Anthony Steffen

A guy in moustache and chequered suit checks into a hotel. Picks up a hooker dressed as a nun for some fun in his little room where he dresses up as the devil in red tights. No shit. Who comes up with all these great ideas for movies? Ray Lovelock is photographing nude models at his studio. He also secretly takes pictures of couples having sex at the hotel and then black-mails them. Meanwhile a nude blond model (Anna Maria Rizzoli, whose relation to Mondo Cane producer Angelo Rizzoli is yet to be confirmed) is chased by a mysterious killer with black gloves. Police detective Anthony Steffen must investigate.

In his best movie by a long shot, The Catherine Miles Story (aka White Slave), director Mario Gariazzo showed some surprising sensibility towards his material. Perhaps because there was a little bit of actual story to tell that time. This, on the other side, plays as if it wasn't directed by the same guy at all. Here Gariazzo revels in the sleazy details of the plot with mucho hardcore sex inserts added when necessary (i.e to expand the running time). In the midst of all this is Swedish actress (in lack of better term) Marina Hedman (also known as "Marina Lotar") who did a dozen or so lousy movies like this before advancing to more serious business with Marina's Animals and other animal friendly stories for adults only. As for a final judgement, Play Motel is nowhere as good as Catherine Miles or as fun as the same director's childish Very Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind, but it's fun enough. But only if you can watch it for free.
