The
Click Florence Guerin (you'll remember her from Nothing Underneath 2 and Faceless) is terrorized by a man who with his special device can scrubble with people's minds, forcing them into heavy erotica whenever he feels like it. Just a simple switch on the button and the love of his life, poor Florence, is put in some awkward situation. In public, at parties, in clothing stores etc. But don't get too excited. As a piece of French erotica the film is painfully static with nailed-down camera and neverending long-shots, and all the supposed shocking images of the comic - like a naked Florence crawling around in the jungle trying to seduce a crocodile hunter who looks like Snake Plisken - doesn't work very well in this uninspired softcore approach. It just looks silly. I don't know who this guy Jean Louie Richard is but perhaps another Jean, one named Jean Rollin, should have directed it. Then we would have known that the minimal style at least is intentional. This just looks amateurish and flat. Florence contributes some suitable full-frontal shots but it doesn't make much difference. Milo Manara has been personally responsible for the production design, which is surprising considering it is non-exsisting. He also contributes some nice color paintings to the end credits. Clearly a disappointment. Manara fanatics may have another opinion, but I don't think so.
