Circuitry Man 2: Plughead Rewired
USA 1993. Directors: Steven & Robert Lovy
Cast: Vernon Wells, Deborah Shelton, Jim Metzler, Traci Lords

The Plughead, also known as "the eater of souls" or "the guy with plugs all over his head", rewires for this sequel to the original Circuitry Man. This time Mr. Plughead (Vernon Wells, still best known from The Road Warrior), who lives on pain which he sucks out from various bums he tortures, has set his base in a futuristic and polluted Brazilian desert where he has his mind plugged in and ready to take over what's left of the world as we know it. Being a psychotic villain he also intend to find the key to immortal life and for this he kidnaps scientist Traci Lords. And if she's not a nice obedient girl Plugman connects her into his head and lets her feel his pain. Oh yea, he's evil. Cyborg Jim Metzler (One False Move) and FBI agent Deborah Shelton (Body Double) are sent in to stop the madness.

Circuitry Man 2 is, apart from being a continuation of the first movie, like something Charles Band would produce straight to video (think Trancers or Dollman). A silly little movie to watch late at night just before you shut the light. Most of the running time is taken up by various funny characters trying to pass through an air-less desert in order to reach the Plughead residence, thus there's much comic-style dialogue and gratuitous nudity on the way. But the special effects are lively and the shoot-outs comes frequently, so there's enough stuff going on to prevent you from falling asleep. Conclusively two silly stars for the movie, two shining stars for Deborah Shelton's mesmerizing green eyes. That makes three.
